The Garden of Unearthly Delights began with just one Spiegeltent in 2000. Over the past 20 years, it has evolved into the greatest arts event in town and the heart of Adelaide’s summer arts festival season. The Garden of Unearthly Delights acknowledges that it gathers on sacred Country - 'Mullawirrayerta / Dry Forest Country' and respects the First Nation people’s spiritual and cultural connection with their land, sea, sky and country.

Each year, The Garden of Unearthly Delights' team creates a unique festival playground including multiple performance venues, bars, carnival rides, an array of world foods, market stalls, and the most unexpected sideshow surprises.

In 2020 The Garden’s 14.4 acre precinct included 22 temporary performance spaces, hosted over a 2700 performances and engaged over 800,000 visitors across 32 days. Our programming is award-winning and internationally recognised, receiving 12 weekly Fringe Awards in 2020.

Not all events may be performing in an accessible performance space. Please check the details of the performance space specific to your performance.

The Garden of Unearthly Delights is open from the 14th of February to the 17th of March 2013. You can purchase tickets online at FringeTix, from the booth in Rundle Mall or at the entry. Entrance to the garden is free, but there is no stamp-out policy so if you leave you'll have to join the queue to get back in.

YES. But, at busy times in the interests of public safety or to stay within our legal site capacity, we may restrict entry to the site and there may be a queue. However, we always ensure ticketholders can get access to the site – just head to the priority entry queue for ticket holders (adjacent to the Box Office).

YES. We are an inclusive space that caters for all ages.  Minors may enjoy The Garden until midnight (or until 1:00am if accompanied by a guardian AND they are seeing a show that starts prior to midnight and finishes before 1:00am). On busy nights The Garden may refuse entry to minors arriving from 11:00pm so that we are able to meet the conditions of our limited licence (i.e. ensure minors are off site by midnight). At no time can minors enter The Garden after midnight or remain in The Garden after 1:00am.To avoid disappointment please make sure you consider this when planning your visit.

The Garden also provides free water to keep hydrated and has plenty of shady areas to keep out of the sun. 

Events at The Garden will be held in accordance with SA Health direction and we will provide updates via our website, social media, and direct communication with ticket buyers. 

In 2021 The Garden will be more spacious with additional, comfortable and physically distanced seating areas. All venue, bar and food stall queues have been designed to enable physical distancing. The site and venues will be cleaned regularly by our dedicated cleaning team and we have additional exit and entry points to ensure less crowding at The Garden front gate.

The Garden is also relying on our audience and team to adhere to the well accepted COVID-safe practices of physical distancing and good hygiene.

Yes.  Please download the free mySA GOV app, with COVID SAfe check-in prior to coming to The Garden.  You will be required show you have checked-in upon entry to The Garden.  There will also be multiple check-in points located throughout The Garden.  If you are attending a ticketed venue, you will also be required to check-in to that specific venue on entry.   If you do not have the app, please use patron logs provided.

No, you are not currently required to wear a mask in The Garden or at specific ticketed events held within The Garden. 

The Garden sells tickets through its own ticketing system on this website and in person at The Garden's box office which will open on the 19 Feb 2021.

Please note: The Garden only takes responsibility for tickets purchased through its own points of sale. Any queries regarding tickets purchased through Adelaide Fringe need to be directed back to FringeTix.

The Garden’s box office is located near the entrance of the site, near the corner of Rundle Rd and East Tce.  

Yes, due to COVID capacity restrictions, every person attending an event including children 2 years and under must have a valid ticket.  Individual events may offer free tickets from children under 2, specific pricing for children under 2 or standard pricing.  Please refer to individual event pages.

Some productions may offer discounts for children and/or families.  If Child prices are available, they will be listed as ‘child’ throughout the program.  If Family prices are available, they will be listed as 'family'.

Family + Babes in Arms | 2 Adults and 2 Children or 1 Adult and 3 Children, plus a baby on their carer's lap ★★

If concession prices are listed for a particular event, concession prices apply to persons who are aged 16 years and under, full-time students (including International Student cardholders), full pensioners, welfare benefit recipients and the unemployed.

You may be able to exchange your ticket to another performance of the same event, at our discretion and subject to a $8.50 fee. Please see our Terms and Conditions for more information.

All advertised prices include Booking Fees. If you purchase a ticket on our website, your transaction is subject to a $2.70 web transaction fee.  No transaction fees are applicable when tickets are purchased in person.  If you wish to receive your tickets by post, you must pay an additional postage fee. All advertised prices include Booking Fees.

Being late affects performers and the rest of the audience. This is so important that some artists specifically ask that latecomers not be admitted. The Garden therefore reserves the right to exclude latecomers to certain events or to admit them only during a suitable break in the performance. The Garden regrets it is not possible to refund a completed booking. Please respect the Front of House staff's instructions.

You are not allowed to use mobile phones, paging devices, alarm or chiming watches during performances. Using cameras or other recording devices is a breach of copyright and absolutely not allowed. Be nice and remember to consider those around you trying to also enjoy their night out.

Yes. Companion Card tickets can be booked in person or by phone. Should you require the assistance of a companion or carer to attend events or venues, The Garden will issue a second ticket at no charge.

If you find something, please hand it in to any member of staff and we’ll do our best to return the item to its owner.

The Garden is not responsible for any lost or found property and will give any unclaimed items to charity or to the police at the conclusion of the season.

The Adelaide FREE 99C City Loop stops near The Garden, on East Terrace. Stops B1, Y1 and Y2 on East Terrace and l1, I2 and I3 on North Tce are all located in close proximity to The Garden. A number of services to various Adelaide suburbs operate from these stops.

There is limited car parking near the site.  Some council parking bays are located on streets adjacent to The Garden.  There is also paid off-street parking on Rundle St and North Tce.

» Alcohol (We are licensed - you cannot bring in or take alcohol from the area. Just like a pub or club. There is a bag search at The Garden’s entrance, where any banned items will be confiscated and not returned.)

» Liquids (Unfortunately some people want to smuggle in alcohol, which breaches our Liquor License. Only empty bottles can be brought in. But, water is freely available once inside.)

» Professional cameras without prior permission Happy snaps are welcome, but anyone with a professional camera must have prior permission from The Garden. **In 2021 cameras will not be allowed.**

No.  Unfortunately, some people want to smuggle alcohol into The Garden, and do so using water and other bottles. Craziness we know! This puts both The Garden and the patron in breach of liquor licensing rules.  As such only empty bottles can be brought into the site. However, water is freely available on site so your water bottle can easily be refilled once you are inside.

Yes. You can bring your own food with you and there will be a variety of food options throughout the festival, available to purchase.

Post them, share them and generally snap away (#GOUD21). First Aid is provided on site, during all opening hours. If you require First Aid, please notify any member of staff or security and they will radio for First Aid.

Yes. The Garden has a waste management strategy in place, with separate streams for Glass and Plastic Bottles, Organic Waste (including all compostable food packaging) and Landfill Waste.

The Garden is a curated event. We accept applications from around August of each year and details of how to apply will be posted on our website here.

Annually, The Garden employees a range of fantastic build, technical, box office, foh and bar staff. We accept applications from around October of each year and details of how to apply will be posted on our website here.

The Garden reserves the right to take video recordings and photographs at each event and within the site. On entering the Garden site and attending a performance at The Garden you consent to be photographed and/or videotaped and acknowledge that the intended use is for archival and/or promotional purposes and authorise use by or on behalf of The Garden. Prior consent of photography and filming of minors within the site will be requested.
